Hello and welcome to Big Bear Kennel, breeders of fine British Labradors in central Illinois.  We are a family-owned kennel and strive to provide you with the most enjoyable British pup and/or hunting companion.

Smaller in size than their American counterpart, British Labradors fit well into any home, whether in a city apartment or home in the country.  They are very people-oriented and show much devotion to their family.  They have excellent temperament with younger children, as seen in their forgiving and calm nature.  We provide complete socialization skills to our British pups, making the transition from our kennel to your home seamless.

Because British gun dogs are instinctively calmer in nature, they make training a joy instead of a chore.  Whether upland or duck hunting, the British Labrador lives to please his master.  We spend a great deal of time researching the most genetically-sound bitches and sires in the world.  All our British pups on site are either 1st or 2nd generation dogs straight from England.  We guarantee all our pups’ hips and eyes, and have OFA rating on the parents.  In addition, our adult imported British dogs have a BVA (British Veterinarian Association) hip score.

We do not want to merely produce British Labrador puppies - we want to produce great British Labradors for a lifetime of enjoyment - whether living as a pet, hunting companion, or both.  Please give us a call or e-mail with any questions, or to reserve a pup.
